Whatsapp templates with variables

We have just started to use the WhatsApp module and it is great, but would be super to have the ability to use variables in the messages, like we can in email/sms messaging.

We managed to get the Customer's name to be populated by chance in one template, but nothing else has worked and support has confirmed that they are not supported!
